Dr. Timothy Mologne is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. He began his medical career in the United States Navy.  During his illustrious twenty year naval career, he flew F-14’s as a naval flight surgeon during Desert Storm, served as an orthopedic surgeon in Okinawa, Japan, and taught orthopedic surgery at a major medical center.  His career culminated with his promotion to the rank of Captain (O-6) and appointment as the Director of Sports Medicine and Vice Chairman of Orthopedic Surgery at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California. His position included teaching sports medicine and arthroscopy as part of the largest orthopedic surgery residency in the military.  In addition, his practice developed into a worldwide referral center for military members with complex shoulder and knee problems.  Dr. Mologne has dedicated much of his time to teaching and performing clinical research.  He has published several articles and book chapters in the field of shoulder and knee surgery.  In addition, he has lectured and continues to lecture nationally and internationally on various knee and shoulder topics, and continues to be a faculty member at national meetings.  Throughout his career, he has been honored with many teaching and research awards.

Since moving to Appleton, Wisconsin in 2004, Dr. Mologne, a native of Colorado, has established himself as a regional expert in shoulder and knee surgery.  His extensive experience and proficiency in complex shoulder surgery resulted in being selected as a member of the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons in 2009.  Dr. Mologne is one of a few surgeons in the State of Wisconsin to be accepted into this prestigious society.

He has remained active in clinical teaching on both the local and national levels.  He has been an associate master instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America since 2007.   He has continued to author articles and book chapters in the field of shoulder and knee surgery. His research works have won awards from the American Society of Sports Medicine and the International Society of Arthroscopy ( ISAKOS ).

Dr. Mologne has a strong interest in cartilage restoration and is proficient in the state of the art techniques of cartilage and meniscus transplantation.  He has authored and contributed to published articles on cartilage research and transplantation outcomes.  He serves as a consultant and advisor to cartilage transplant companies and continues to perform cartilage research.  His work is leading to improved techniques and surgical instrumentation, which will ultimately lead to better outcomes.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, fly fishing, and competing in triathlons.  He is a 6-time Ironman finisher, and was named an Ironman All-World-Athlete in 2017 and 2018.  

Dr. Mologne welcomes new patients and referrals.  His goal is to provide patient education and state of the art orthopedic care and rehabilitation to return patients to their optimal performance.  As a surgeon for the Orthopedic and Sports Institute of the Fox Valley, Dr. Mologne performs surgery at their ambulatory surgical center to improve patient satisfaction and effective patient care.  The ambulatory surgical center provides safe and cost effective out-patient surgery.  In-patient procedures are also performed in the center, with postoperative care available at the Recovery Inn, which is located on the OSIFV campus.
